San Diego police have arrested the person believed responsible for a car crash that resulted in several people being seriously injured. Police expressed a belief the driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. As such, in accordance with the laws of California, this individual was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.
This particular accident occurred the evening of Nov. 15, on Fiesta Island. The cause of the single-vehicle crash is still unknown. Four people were in the automobile when the car went off the road, some of whom were ejected from the vehicle. All of the vehicle's occupants were transported to a medical center for treatment. The current conditions of the passengers have not been reported.
The driver was arrested after medical care was received. It is unknown as to whether this individual is still being held by authorities or if he or she has been released. Court dates in reference to the matter have not been reported.
This was certainly a terrible accident, one that has changed the lives of all involved – particularly for the driver. In California, a DUI conviction carries a number of consequences, including loss of driving privileges, jail or imprisonment, fines, rehabilitation and community service -- among various others. Any of these could greatly affect this individual's future. With assistance, the driver in this case may be able to fight the charges, or work with legal counsel in an effort to resolve this matter in a way that will be of best benefit to his or her circumstances. While this type of case may not be easily resolved, there are always a options to choose from which will help the accused achieve the best possible outcome.
