A 47-year-old male was recently taken into custody by authorities in California. He is facing charges of alleged sex crimes against children. The violations of which he stands accused are said to have occurred over 10 years ago.
According to a recent report, the accused was arrested after the Riverside County Sheriff's Department received information regarding alleged acts of child molestation. The crimes supposedly occurred between 1999 and 2004. This individual has been detained at the Southwest Detention Center. Bail in his case has been set at $5 million.
The accused is suspected of committing sex crimes against multiple children. As such, he is facing felony sex crime charges on several counts. Police have not indicated what evidence they may have against this individual. Authorities are still asking for anyone with information to please step forward.
Understandably, sex crimes involving children are not taken lightly in the California criminal system. Prosecuting attorneys will do everything reasonably possible to ensure those accused are convicted and receive the maximum penalties. These cases do need to be handled delicately in order to protect the rights of everyone allegedly involved. This includes ensuring the rights of the accused are not brushed to the side in order to serve the want for justice. As the charges in this case could result in a lengthy imprisonment and hefty fines if a conviction is secured, the accused and his legal counsel can determine the best defense strategies for the situation and work together to achieve an outcome that serves to protect his future interests.
