A California teen was recently arrested and is being detained in juvenile hall for a number of alleged crimes. Due to the age of this young man, few details are known about him or his supposed involvement in the crimes for which he stands accused. It is unknown if his case has yet been heard in juvenile court.
According to police, a young man was arrested after he and another teen supposedly threatened two individuals in the Del Mar area. The first victim, a jogger, claims the two teenagers questioned him about gang affiliation and then threatened to assault him, but he was able to run away, unharmed. The second victim, a man on a bike, claims the teens stole his property -- including his bike, cell phone and backpack -- but threw these items from their truck as they drove away.
Police were contacted, and the boys were soon spotted. A high speed chase supposedly ensued, ending in a car crash. One of the teens reportedly got away, while the other was arrested. The young man who was taken into custody is being held for suspicion of robbery and criminal threats. Authorities are still looking for the other teen.
The crimes alleged in this case are quite severe. Even though this case will be heard in the California juvenile court system, which focuses on treatment and rehabilitation rather than punishment, there may still be serious consequences if this teen is found responsible for the alleged crimes. This young man may seek the legal services offered by a criminal defense attorney who will work to achieve an outcome that will best protect his current and future interests.
