Arrests made following an alleged DUI-related fatal crash

Two people in California were recently arrested following a crash police believe may have been the result of impaired driving. The charges against them include suspicion of DUI. It was reported that one of these individuals was injured in the wreck, as was his young passenger. Both died as a result of their injuries.

According to reports, two drivers were arrested following a crash with injuries on Aug. 5. A child, whom police say was just 6 years old, was a passenger in his uncle's vehicle, which was supposedly T-boned by another automobile. This young boy was rushed to the hospital but, sadly, died while in surgery. His uncle was arrested for suspicion of DUI. However, he also died while being treated for unspecified injuries.

The second driver, identified in a video accompanying the news report as a 35-year-old man, was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI as well. Police have not indicated what type of substance they believe this individual allegedly had in his system at the time of the collision. It has not been reported if any other charges are pending against him. It is also unknown if he is still in police custody.

The results of this accident are certainly tragic, not only for the surviving family members of the deceased but for the remaining driver as well. This individual could face a host of consequences should he be found guilty of driving while impaired. This is especially true as a fatal DUI-related crash in California could warrant a felony charge. Conducting a full investigation, which includes questioning any evidence offered against the accused, will be necessary and may produce information that is helpful to his criminal case. With the help of counsel, this individual will be able to make informed decisions regarding his legal case and proceed in a manner that will best suit his future interests.
