5 people accused of massive toy theft in California

Four people are behind bars and police are still looking for another individual, all of whom are accused of stealing toys in California. For the last several months, police have been investigating what they are calling a massive toy theft ring. With the total cost of taken items adding up to approximately $15,000, each of these individuals is likely to face serious penalties if they happen to be convicted.

Over the course of five months, police in southern California have been investigating the thefts of toys from area Toys "R" Us stores. According to reports, the items which are said to have been taken include Legos, backpacks and Disney toys related to the popular movie Frozen. In total, five people are accused of taking carts full of items from several stores in the San Diego area about 30 times.

After searching two cities, three people were arrested and charged with the crimes. A fourth person was already in police custody for another issue which is irrelevant to this case. Law enforcement officers do believe a fifth individual is also involved, but this person has not been identified. At this time, it is unknown if court dates have been scheduled for any of the accused.

Regardless of where it occurs, theft of the magnitude alleged in this case is a significant concern -- one that will not likely be taken mildly in a California criminal court. Each of those accused of taking part in these thefts may, potentially, be hit with fines and imprisonments if convictions are successfully achieved. The accused individuals may consult with experienced criminal defense counsel in order to help resolve their cases both quickly and in ways that best suit their personal circumstances.
