California woman facing theft and child endangerment charges

A young woman is behind bars and her toddler with Child and Family services in California after the child allegedly pointed a loaded gun at police officers. This individual has been charged with suspected child endangerment and theft. It is unknown if any other charges will be filed in this case.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested in mid-May following an incident with police officers. According to a recent report, detectives were speaking to the woman when her 3-year-old daughter allegedly approached them with a gun in her hands. Officers claim to have taken the gun without incident. Then, shortly afterwards, the arrest was made.

Police had been in the area looking for information about two service weapons that had been stolen the week prior to this incident. An individual who was driving the woman's vehicle reportedly had one of the guns in his possession. The gun held by the toddler is said to be the other missing weapon. It is unknown if the accused is being held or has been released on bail. Court dates regarding this specific case have not been reported.

The charges filed in this case can certainly have a drastic impact on the life of the accused and her daughter. If a conviction is secured, the punishments for theft and child endangerment charges in California can include jail time, fines and could lead to the loss of parental privileges. No one wants to see a child separated from his or her mother. As such, it is imperative to take adequate time to ensure nothing is overlooked, and that any evidence provided is thoroughly reviewed. With so much on the line, an experienced criminal defense attorney can give the attention to detail this type of case requires, and provide the accused with the necessary information required to make informed decisions in regard to her case.
