California man arrested on suspicion of DUI

A young man in Northern California was recently arrested in connection with a fatal accident that occurred in mid-February. Police do believe impairment played a role in this incident. As such, this individual is now facing multiple charges which may end up including a felony DUI.

A 22-year-old male was taken into custody shortly after an accident that occurred in Northern California. This individual is accused of operating the vehicle that struck and killed a motorcyclist. According to police, the victim -- a 40-year-old male -- was reportedly thrown from his motorcycle due to the impact. He died at the scene of the crash.

The individual believed to be responsible for this collision is suspected of driving under the influence; however, this information is yet to be confirmed. If toxicology reports indicate a possible impairment, this young man may face a felony DUI charge, along with a vehicular manslaughter charge. It is unknown if bail has been set in his case.

The potential charges in this case carry significant penalties under California law. If convictions are secured on both counts, a felony DUI and a manslaughter charge could result in prison time, hefty fines and a host of other life-changing consequences. As with all accusations of DUI, a careful review of any evidence offered up against an accused person may produce information that could benefit the overall outcome of a case. A criminal defense team with experience in DUI-related cases may be able to offer valuable insight into situations similar to this one.
