California high school coach facing insurance fraud charges

The price of insurance fraud affects all consumers, as the cost is recovered by increasing premiums. With so many people, both in California and across the country, affected by this kind of activity, stiff penalties are in place for those convicted of committing such acts. With so much on the line, those accused of insurance fraud would likely benefit from a strategic criminal defense on their behalf.

The high school football coach of a small farming town in California was arrested recently. The charges against him include three counts of insurance fraud, all of which are felony charges, and one count of filing a false report, which is a misdemeanor. The 32-year-old male has been considered a force for good in the community, serving as both a substitute high school teacher and varsity football coach. Under his leadership, the Mendota High School football team won several championships. His arrest is likely shocking to this small town.

According to the arrest warrant, the accused supposedly lied about the theft of his vehicle for the purpose of collecting insurance money. If found guilty of these accusations, this individual could face a hefty fine, which could be upward of $50,000 and the possibility of spending up to five years in prison. Court dates are still pending in this case.

The consequences of insurance fraud are likely to affect not only an individual's personal life but their professional life as well. As with any criminal offense, those accused maintain their right to defend themselves of the allegations. With the help of legal counsel, the accused in this situation will be able to make an informed decision regarding the best legal options to pursue for his specific circumstances.
