2 people in California arrested on weapons charge, among others

Criminal charges of all varieties are taken seriously and may result in significant penalties -- if a conviction is ultimately secured. Recently, two individuals who had just been released on bond for other criminal charges in California, were arrested after police officers claim the accused led them on a high-speed chase. Charges against these individuals include a weapons charge, drug possession, felony evading and concealing evidence -- among several others.

According to a recent news report, a deputy claimed an attempt to pull over a driver for speeding resulted in a high-speed chase that ran through several counties before coming to an end. According to the deputy, the driver of the vehicle in question, a 42-year-old male, was speeding in a vehicle that had expired plates. The driver allegedly failed to comply with the officer's demands to pull over. The driver did eventually stop after hitting a parked vehicle in a parking lot, and both occupants of the car supposedly attempted to flee on foot.

Both individuals, the 42-year-old male and a 26-year-old female passenger were later arrested. According to jail records, both are facing a slew of charges for this current incident. Both are also reported to have prior criminal histories, though it is unknown what they may be.

A weapons charge, along with drug possession and other felony charges like those filed in this case, can be difficult to fight in a California criminal court. An experienced criminal defense attorney may be able to provide valuable insight to the situation, allowing the individual accused to make important decisions regarding their own case -- such as the decision to defend themselves against all charges or to attempt to negotiate a plea agreement. A well-planned and executed defense will likely assist in the overall process and help in pursuing the best result possible for each individual's current legal position.
